10 years ago, my family moved across the globe from The Philippines to Canada for good. As a 12 year old, back then all I knew was that we are moving to be with our father and that this new place will be our new home. As sad it was to leave our family behind, I'm not going to deny that it was such an exciting experience to move to Canada. Even though it was such a big transition, I didn't mind it.
If it wasn't for us moving to Canada, I would have not experienced the things I did. This was an opportunity of a lifetime, definitely was a blessing from above. Canada has given me so many firsts in my life and even if those firsts were not that great, I'm glad it happened here.
I'd like to think that we are fortunate, and my family did not take this for granted. We may have lived here for the last 10 years but we still didn't lose any of our culture and ourselves like others. We are still together no matter what, and even if one moves away, we would always come back to where are heart is.
To call Canada my home is such a feeling that nothing can compare. I personally may not have travelled around much of the country, but I'm telling you, I'm not going anywhere so there is so much time for me to see the rest of this amazing place.
I've managed to collect some photos from our first year here, and to be honest I do miss those days.
To commemorate our first decade in Canada, we went to Lake Minnewanka with our dog Coco. It was nice, because 10 years later we had an addition to our family!
